Blog: Hurricane Katrina 2 Years Ago on this Date

Hurricane Katrina was 2 years ago on this date. In all my years of seeing a disasters I never seen something as bad as this event those pictures of this day will stay with me forever in my mind with tears. Those films of that event will never leave me or never forget the sad I felt in my heart. The visions of the people sitting on top of roofs, floating on debris to land, people sitting in wheel chairs, dead bodies covered and babies crying. The worst thing I ever seen on TV in the history of my life with the awful things that happened at the superdome that was hell for those people I think it is a crime with what happened to them with no help at all.

The way the government handled this disaster was awful I never was more embarrassed than at that time being an American when our own government treated American citizen that way. Then later they stated didn’t know all the stuff was going on at the superdome when every darn news station at that time was covering the story of the horrific reality of what was really happening. The way they handled things going on then and even today yet is a disaster with victims are still not getting the help they need I think that is wrong. Many theories behind this event some say that it was a man made disaster not a natural disaster with the engineering behind building of levee system along with they needed repairs. Some said if the levees were up to date it would of not happened because what the damage was from is the flooding with the levees giving out more than the actual hurricane itself.

Many are asking the question about rebuilding I have mixed emotions on this I would love to see all those people be able to rebuild again. However, in reality I do fear the same thing could happen again everything being destroyed with more lives lost. For the reason that I get the feeling already know in a way they will not rebuilt the levee correctly. The key to rebuilding is the levees are structured correctly it is all about the quality of the levees being built with them rebuilding for the reason that hurricanes will be hit again.
